France is one of the most diverse geographical regions in the whole of Europe with several mountainous regions on its border and many mountains on its land. France is the home of four major mountain ranges Massif, Alps, Jura and Pyrenees. Massif range of mountains are the oldest range of mountains that are famous for large numbers of extinct volcanoes. Jura mountains are popular for its limestone rocks and the mountain range runs along the border of Switzerland north of Lake Geneva.
